Downton Abbey A new Era Sneak Peak

We learn a bit more about the Dowager Countess, Violet Crawley in the new teaser trailer for A New Era. In the last film, we were left with questions about the Dowager's health, but it appears she is about to embark on a new adventure as she learns that an old flame left her an estate in Southern France.

This leaves us with many questions: Who is this mysterious man? How is it the Dowager is in line to own the estate? What is happening in the lives of the other family members and the staff? 

When the first teaser was released I assumed that the family would be heading to America and was excited at the prospect of seeing a 1930's New York, and being reunited with Martha, Cora's mother. 

We'll have to make do with Southern France. How will we survive?
